People moves: Standard Lithium welcomes new general counsel as Douglas Elliman appoints new corporate secretary

The Andersons and WesBanco also grow their legal teams

Standard Lithium has welcomed Michael Lutgring to the company as general counsel, effective August 18.

Lutgring brings over two decades of legal and strategic advisory experience across corporate law, regulatory compliance and commercial transactions.

Before joining Standard Lithium, Lutgring served as vice president and deputy general counsel at Albemarle Corporation. Prior to Albemarle, Lutgring held senior legal roles at Amedisys.

Meanwhile, US real estate company Douglas Elliman has appointed Bradley Brodie as its new general counsel and corporate secretary.

As confirmed in an SEC filing, Brodie most recently served as a capital markets and finance counsel with law firm Sidley Austin.

Prior to this, he worked for the likes of DLA Piper and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and worked in-house at online pet food retailer Chewy and investment firm Ladenburg Thalmann & Co.

In Maumee, Ohio, agriculture company The Andersons has confirmed that Emmanuel Ayuk will join the company as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.

In a move effective from September 2, Ayuk will report directly to The Andersons president and CEO Bill Krueger.

He enters the new role having served as chief counsel for the agricultural services and oilseeds business unit at ADM. Before that, he held a series of leadership roles at ADM across compliance and legal functions. He was also a partner at Stinson LLP before joining ADM.

Elsewhere, Nasdaq-listed financial services company WesBanco has named Richard Laws as its senior executive vice president and chief legal counsel, effective August 18.

Laws most recently served as chief legal officer and corporate secretary for Northwest Bank. In that role, he advised executive leadership on corporate governance, compliance, commercial banking, employment, intellectual property and M&A activities.

Laws will report to WesBanco president and chief executive officer Jeff Jackson in his new position.

Staying in the US, aviation solutions provider, AerSale confirmed the appointment of Paul Hechenberger as SVP, general counsel and corporate secretary.

Before  joining AerSale, Hechenberger was a partner with Miami-based law firm Shutts & Bowen, with leadership roles that include serving as general counsel at iAero Group, deputy general counsel at Spirit AeroSystems, general counsel at BBA Aviation (Aftermarket Services), chief M&A counsel at BBA Aviation and corporate Counsel at Tyco Fire & Security.

Finally, the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation has named Geraldine Hayhurst as executive vice president, chief legal officer and secretary.

Hayhurst will start the job September 8 and succeeds Stephen Mullery who will retire on April 3, 2026, after 25 years with the company.

Hayhurst joins Farmer Mac from CoStar Group where she served as associate general counsel, corporate and compliance.

She has recently served as general counsel and secretary at NewPoint Real Estate Capital, at the SEC as an attorney-advisor in the Division of Trading and Markets and at A&O Shearman and Clifford Chance
