People moves: Lucy Fato departs from Seaport Entertainment Group

Plus Harley-Davidson, ConocoPhilips and GitHub legal chiefs exit the business

Seaport Entertainment Group has confirmed that Lucy Fato, its EVP, general counsel and corporate secretary, has left her role.

Reported in an 8-K filing, Fato officially stepped down on June 25 but will stay on as an advisor to the president and CEO of the company through to August 24. No replacement has been named.

Fato joined Seaport in May 2024. Prior to this she served as EVP, general counsel and global head of communications and government affairs at AIG. Earlier in her career she also held roles at the likes of Nardello & Co, S&P Global and Davis Polk & Wardwell.

Over at US motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson, Paul Krause has stepped down as chief legal, compliance and corporate affairs officer and corporate secretary.

Krause, who will remain with the company as an advisor until September 1, will be succeeded by Gayle Littleton.

Before joining Harley-Davidson, Littleton served as a member of the board of advisors for Atomic Canyon and before that as EVP, chief legal office and corporate secretary at Exelon.

The company expresses ‘sincere appreciation’ to Krause for his leadership during his tenure.

Similarly, ConocoPhilips, a global exploration and production company, has confirmed in a filing last week that Kelly Rose will retire as SVP, legal, general counsel and corporate secretary on September 1.

Rose joined the company in 2018, prior to which she was Partner at the law firm Baker Botts. Her replacement will be announced at a later date.

Continuing with the exits, Robin Schulman will resign from her role as chief legal officer, head of corporate affairs and corporate secretary at AI software company GitLab on June 30.

In an SEC filing, the company thanks Schulman for her contributions and ‘wishes her well in her future endeavors’.

Prior to joining GitHub, she served as SVP, chief legal officer and corporate secretary at Couchbase. Before this, Schulman was general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer at New Relic.

Over at satellite telecoms provider EchoStar, chief legal officer and secretary Dean Manson has confirmed plans to stand down from his position.

Manson will remain with the company as a senior advisor for an orderly transition period. He is to be succeeded by Jeffrey Blum, EchoStar’s EVP of government affair, as acting chief legal officer and secretary while the search for a permanent replacement takes place.

At the same time, EMPLOYERS, a provider of workers’ compensation insurance, has appointed Jeffrey Lisenby as EVP and general counsel.

Lisenby joins EMPLOYERS from ProAssurance where he spent 25 years as EVP, general counsel and corporate secretary.

‘Jeff has spent more than two decades building deep expertise in insurance law and regulatory matters, and that background will serve EMPLOYERS well,’ says Kathy Antonello, president and CEO of EMPLOYERS. ‘As we continue to grow and navigate an evolving regulatory landscape, we look forward to the expertise and counsel he will bring to the company.’

Over in Europe, automobile manufacturer Renault Group has promoted Quitterie de Pelleport, the company’s current chief legal officer, to the newly created role of general secretary.

Under Pelleport's leadership, the role brings together the following functions under one umbrella: legal, audit, risk, ethics and compliance, prevention and protection, sustainability, strategic partnerships, defense activities and circular economy.

Pelleport started her career in private law firms, such as Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel and DLA Piper. Following this she joined Rhodia as an M&A lawyer in 2008 before being promoted to general counsel for the Asia-Pacific region.

Since February 2021, Pelleport has served as chief legal officer and secretary of the board of directors at Renault Group.

‘The creation of the general secretariat is a key lever to strengthen our governance and our capacity to deliver on our ambitions. This role will also contribute to the development of certain high-potential activities. I have every confidence in Quitterie to lead this strategic function,’ says François Provost, CEO of Renault Group.
