People moves: Former GitLab legal chief Robin Schulman joins Quantinuum as CLO

Plus RH, Amerant Bancorp and Popular bolster their governance teams

Computing company Quantinuum has named Robin Schulman as its new chief legal officer and company secretary.

Schulman will report to the Nasdaq-listed firm’s president and CEO Rajeeb Hazra. She joins Quantinuum from GitLab where she served as chief legal officer and head of corporate affairs for nearly seven years. Prior to that, she was the chief legal officer at Couchbase and New Relic and held senior leadership positions at Adobe.

‘Quantinuum sits at a fascinating intersection of groundbreaking science and real-world commercial impact, and I could not be more excited to join the team at this important moment in the company's journey,’ says Schulman.

Over at home furnishings company RH, Ryan Hassanein has been appointed as the new chief legal and compliance officer.

Reporting to chairman and CEO Gary Friedman, Hassanein will oversee all areas of the company's legal and compliance functions.

Hassanein previously spent over ten years at healthcare company McKesson Corporation as a member of the chief legal officer's leadership team.

‘Ryan's leadership experience extends well beyond the traditional scope of a legal role based on the range of his contributions at McKesson, one of the largest and most sophisticated companies in the world from a legal and compliance perspective,’ says Friedman.

Staying in the US, Amerant Bancorp confirmed in an 8-K filing that Yecimar Tirado-Camacho has been promoted to the role of EVP and chief risk officer.

Tirado-Camacho, who had previously served as SVP and head of internal audit, succeeds Alberto Capriles who announced to retire earlier this month.

Before joining the company in 2023, Tirado-Camacho served as VP and head of internal audit at Oportun from 2019 to 2023. Prior to that, she held senior internal audit leadership positions with First Horizon National Corporation/Capital Bank and Capital Bank Corp. Earlier in her career, Tirado-Camacho held audit and fraud investigation roles with Ocean Bank, General Motors and Doral Financial Corporation.

Meanwhile at Nasdaq-listed finance company Popular, Luis Sousa, SVP and head of the credit risk management division, has been named EVP and chief risk officer, effective from September 1.

Sousa enters the role with over 20 years of experience in the financial industry and has held positions in areas such as audit and risk.

He has served as SVP and head of the credit risk management division at Popular since 2019. Prior to this, he was a VP in the credit risk management division.

‘During his tenure leading the credit risk management division, Luis has strengthened the company’s credit risk management framework and oversight capabilities. His expertise and industry experience will be of great value as we continue to enhance our risk management organization,’ says Richard Carrión, chairman of Popular’s board of directors.

Elsewhere, NYSE-listed Rayonier Advanced Materials has confirmed in an 8-K filing that Colby Slaughter, SVP, general counsel and corporate secretary will resign from the company on August 7.

Slaughter has been with the company since 2014 as senior counsel, before progressing to the roles of assistant general counsel, and then VP, general counsel and corporate secretary. Earlier in his career, Slaughter worked for the law firms Dechert LLP and K&L Gates LLP.

Finally, Sharon AI, an Australian Neocloud provider, has named Melissa Anastasiou as chief legal officer.

She enters the role with two decades of experience across legal, finance and governance. Before joining Sharon AI, Anastasiou spent more than 16 years at Spark New Zealand where she served as executive group general counsel and commercial director.

During her tenure, she advised the board and executive leadership team on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory, privacy and cyber matters together with digital transformation. She also chaired Spark’s AI and data ethics committee.

‘Melissa is an exceptional leader with deep experience supporting one of Australasia’s largest and most complex technology organizations,’ says James Manning, CEO and co-founder of Sharon AI.
