MoneyGram appoints general counsel and secretary

Robert VillaseƱor joined company in July 2018 as associate general counsel and assistant secretary

Dallas-based MoneyGram International has appointed Robert VillaseƱor as general counsel and corporate secretary.

VillaseƱor joined MoneyGram in July 2018 as associate general counsel and assistant secretary, a role in which he oversaw the corporate securities and M&A legal function for the company. He had served as interim general counsel and corporate secretary since October 2019, when Francis Henry left to join CoreLogic as chief legal officer.

In his new permanent role, VillaseƱor oversees global legal matters for the money transfer and peer-to-peer company and will communicate with regulators and lawmakers on matters that impact MoneyGram and the industry.

VillaseƱor has more than 20 yearsā€™ experience of advising public companies on legal matters such as public reporting, M&A and commercial issues. He has worked in private practice and at global public companies including Starbucks, where he advised on issues related to public reporting, strategic investments and transactional matters.
