Bristol Myers Squibb appoints new general counsel

Sandy Leung is retiring from the position after 33 years

Cari Almo Gallman will take up the reins at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) as its new general counsel, chief policy officer and executive vice president.

Gallman has been promoted from within, after serving with BMS for ten years first as senior counsel, and then as assistant general counsel, vice president, senior vice president, chief compliance and ethics officer and most recently as executive vice president of corporate affairs.

She began her legal career as a litigation associate at Debevoise and Plimpton. She holds a law degree from Harvard university.

Gallman succeeds the outgoing Sandra Leung, who is retiring after over three decades at the company.
