Corporate Governance Awards 2017 receive record number of nominations

The Corporate Governance Awards will be hosted on November 9 at Cipriani 25 Broadway, New York

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Corporate Governance Awards, and it is set to be the most competitive yet, with more than 150 nominations – a record – submitted for firms and individuals across the industry.

The Corporate Governance Awards recognize outstanding achievements in the governance, risk and compliance fields. Corporate Secretary’s editorial team will now review the nominations to create the shortlists for each award. There are 14 award categories in total.

Once the shortlists are prepared they will be passed to the independent judging panel, who will select the winners. This year’s judges are:

  • Lydia Beebe, board member at The Kansas City Railway Company and Aemetis and former chief governance officer at Chevron
  • Brian Breheny, partner with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, who advises clients on SEC reporting and compliance, M&A, corporate finance and corporate governance
  • Douglas Chia, executive director of the Conference Board Governance Center
  • Lucy Fato, managing director, head of the Americas and general counsel at Nardello & Co
  • Carol Strickland, corporate secretary and chief administrative officer at EverPower Wind Holdings.

Last year Visa and Splunk won the governance team of year awards for the large and small to mid-cap categories, respectively. Click here to view the full list of the winners of the Corporate Governance Awards 2016.
