BNY Mellon elects directors to governance and audit committees

BNY Mellon’s board of directors has elected two new independent directors who will take seats on the firm’s corporate governance, risk, audit and other committees.

Linda Cook and Jennifer Morgan took up their new roles on December 1. With their addition, BNY Mellon’s board has 14 directors, 13 of whom are independent. Cook and Morgan will also be included in BNY Mellon’s slate of nominees for election to the board at the 2017 annual shareholder meeting.

Cook joins the board’s corporate governance & nominating committee and risk committee. According to a statement, she is a managing director and member of the executive committee of EIG Global Energy Partners, an investment firm focused on the global energy industry, and CEO of Harbour Energy, an energy investment vehicle. She has previously served on the boards of companies including KBR, The Boeing Company, Marathon Oil, Cargill and Royal Dutch Shell.

Morgan joins BNY Mellon’s audit and technology committees. According to the firm, she has served as president of SAP North America since 2014, and has previously represented SAP to the US government and testified before Congress on technology and acquisition issues. Earlier in her career, she served in various management roles at Siebel Systems and Accenture.

Mellon states that, as of September 30, 2016, it had $30.5 trillion in assets under custody and/or administration, and $1.7 trillion in assets under management.
